Robert was born as Robert Swan Mueller III at the Doctors Hospital in New York City to father Robert Swan Mueller Jr and Mother Alice C. Truesdale. Mueller III was born as the first and eldest child of Robert Jr. and Alice as the couple has five children, including Robert.

The names of his younger sisters are Susan, Sandra, Patricia, and Joan. Mueller stays very close to all of his sisters. All the siblings grew up sharing a very tight bond with each other. After day school, Robert went to join the prestigious St. Paul’s School, located in Concord, New Hampshire. While in eighth grade, his family made a move to Philadelphia; however, since Mueller did not want to change schools, he decided to stay in New Hampshire, where he continued in St. Paul’s School.

While in high school, Mueller showed exceptional sports skills and began competing in various kinds of sports in general. At St. Paul’s, Mueller began playing Soccer, Hockey, and Lacrosse. Eventually, the three prominent sports that Mueller participated in, he became captain of all there.

After graduating from St. Paul’s, Mueller began contemplating his educational journey, and without much thought to it, Mueller enrolled at one of the most prestigious colleges in the whole world, Princeton University. In the world of broken marriages and relationships that do not last that long, Mueller stands proud as an exception as a one-woman man. What do we mean by that? Well, simply put, Mueller and his significant other, his wife, are together for more than five decades now, and their love remains intact.

Meeting for the first time at a high school party that took place at the St. Paul’s high school for the first time, Mueller fell in love with Ann Cabell Standish. Talking more about Ann Cabell Standish, she studied at the Miss Porter’s School and later worked as a special-education teacher for children. Particularly focusing on students who possessed difficulties in learning.

After dating for several years, Mueller and Cabell Standish married each other in an intimate wedding ceremony at the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. After marrying, Mueller and Cabell Standish welcomed two daughters together. Both of their two daughters are extremely beautiful women.

After finishing his studies at Princeton University and New York University, Mueller thought it best to join the military. As per sources, Mueller contemplated joining the military after the death of his close friend David Spencer Hackett in a war in Vietnam. After joining the military in 1968, Mueller escalated his rank.

From 1968 to 1969, while his service in Vietnam, Mueller received lots of recognition and medals as well. Once, Mueller salvaged a fellow teammate from an open fire during the war scene. In two years, Mueller received Bronze Star Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, in several other accolades.

Coming back from the military, Mueller pursued law at the University of Virginia School of Law. From the University of Virginia School of Law, Mueller received his Juris Doctor. From 1974 to 1976, Mueller worked at the Pillsbury, Madison, and Sutro as a litigator and moved to United States Attorney Office.

At the United States Attorney Offices, Mueller later served for 12 years, working first at the United States Attorney for the Northern District of California. During his attorney career, Mueller also went and became a partner at Boston law firm at Hil and Barlow. After years of hard work, Mueller rose to prominence.

In 1990, after years of working in attorney offices around the clock, Mueller himself acquired the position of United States Assistant Attorney General. A decade later, Mueller went on to gain the trust of many high-level officials, including then-president George W. Bush. In 2001, Bush nominated Mueller for the position of director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

From 2001 to 2012, Mueller served as the director for the FBI, and after leaving the position, he went back to private practice. As of now, Mueller also serves as a special counsel to the Department of Justice.
