The supreme leader of one of the most closed-off countries on earth, North Korea, Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, was born on January 8, 1983, in Pyongyang, North Korea. At the moment, Kim is 35 years old and Right now, Kim is one of the most youngest if not the youngest leader in the world.

While other countries’ leaders are already in their 40s and 50s, Kim Jong runs the country at the young age of 35 and has been doing so from the past eight years. Passing down the leadership from his father, Kim Jong is one of the most strict and disciplined leaders ever and wants the same from his fellows.

There has been a lot of talk about Kim’s actual birthdate. While some say that his birthday in on 1982, January 8, there are also people who claim that he was born in the year 1984. There still remains a heavy debate on his actual age. South Korean intelligence says that his birth date was in 1983, and US Treasury Department said it’s in 1984.

From a family perspective, Kim has two siblings in total, and he is the second of three children to his parents. His sibling’s names are Kim Jong-Chul and sister Kim yo-Jong. His parents Ko Yong-Hui and Kim Jong-il gave birth to three children, and their whole family never crossed that threshold.

From early childhood, Kim Jong had all of his wish come true. As one of the sons of the supreme leader of a country, there remained virtually nothing that wasn’t in his grasp. However, the family never flaunted their status to other countries and always remained very closed.

When it comes to education, everything remains a bit confusing here, as well. Like his birthdate, the matter of Kim Jong’s school is also somewhat confidential and mysterious, as well. Because of that, there are active rumors about his schooling and where he went to school.

For starters, the whole world believed that Kim went to a school in Gumligen, located in Switzerland. According to sources then, Kim went under a different name as Chol-Pak with a bodyguard framed as a fellow student. However, later, sources claim that this information is related to his older brother.

Later, sources claimed that Kim went to another school but again in Switzerland. Claims made that Kim Jong went to study in Switzerland under the name Pak-Un from 1998 to 2000. As reports suggest, while his stay in Switzerland, Kim went to a special foreign language class.

Also, other sources claim that Kim was a very shy yet good student. Kim scored well in exams, and apart from studies, his interest included in basketball. Going under a different name in school gave Kim the opportunity to make friends and hang out with them as well.

However, in 2000, Kim left his education in Switzerland in the middle and went to North Korea and attended Kim II-Sung University. After doing so, Kim later emerged with two degrees in Physics and another as an Army Officer as well.

Personal Life

Kim Jong’s personal life is a total mystery, as there is a lot of confusion surrounding his personal life. According to sources, Kim is a married man and has a wife named Ri Sol-Ju. However, the exact date of the wedding remains extremely confidential. Because of that, people do not know the exact wedding date.

While most remain in utter confusion, sources claim that Kim also has a child with his wife, but the gender of the child also remains a mystery. There’s a claim that Kim welcomed a baby girl named Kim Ju-ae; it still remains pending confirmation. More on his personal life remains hidden at the moment.

Kim Jong Un Career

Jong Un’s career actually started as his father favored him on top of his elder brother. Jong, who possessed an attitude like his father, said that he was the perfect fit to lead the country. According to Kim Jong-il, Kim Jong Chul came off as a little too more feminine than needed to run the country.

As a result, Kim Jong started to rise in the leader’s line. In 2009, Kim Jong became the de facto leader of North Korea. After some years, Jong Un also became the Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission in 2010. This acted as another stepping stone in the taking power of Kim Jong.

In December of 2011, Kim Jong-il’s death occurred, and the position as the leader of North Korea remained vacant. While Jong’s father mostly preferred him, he did not make anything official till the date he died. However, with support from his fellow comrades and all the support from the army as well, Jong appointed as the leader of North Korea.

From his father’s way of leadership, Kim Jong turned a new leaf and made a different approach to leading the country. Jong introduced a lot of foreign products in the country and made the lives of his citizens much easier. Reports said that North Korean people looked much happier as well.

While Kim brought much prosperity to the country, there are also times when a lot of people feared him and his regime. One of the most prominent scenario when an American student named Otto Warmbier was imprisoned in the country because of his illegal activities. Otto later died within a week of returning home after years of imprisonment.
