Retro Ramblings

Reports from the dusty corners of filmland

A couple of months ago I was fortunate enough to attend the screening of the newly restored print of Cannibal Holocaust (1980), attended by the director himself, Ruggero Deodato, one its stars, Francesca Ciardi, and another of his acting friends, Giovanni Lombardo Radice, who acted as interpreter. (Radice starred in The House on the Edge of the Park (1980). I took some photos at the event which you can see over at Cult Labs, or by clicking the picture below.

I interviewed Deodato at the event, and will shortly be submitting an article based on the interview, along with a review of the new version of the film and a new edition of the definitive Deodato book, Cannibal Holocaust and the Savage Cinema of Ruggero Deodato, to Diabolique magazine. The blu ray and DVD are out shortly. Stay tuned for more details!
