Glad to hear your experience with newcomers' reactions to OSO were a lot better than mine, Ram Jaane. So far, it's been all baffled looks here. Maybe I need to keep trying.

Thankfully my discs work OK, but I still do await the promised 'Blu-ray' release.

"If one were to select the ideal Bollywood film to show a newcomer to Hindi cinema, then 2007’s smash hit blockbuster Om Shanti Om would a prime example of one of the worst possible choices."

I totally disagree. In fact over the past 3 or so years, I've been making a point of dragging some new-comers to the industry with the 'larger' releases.

Last few being Salaam-e-Ishq, Don, Fanaa, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Guru, and this one has had the largest positive response by far. Admittedly I was surprised, but pleasantly so.

Actually SRK was not aping Rajnikant, he was aping the whole south Indian film industry in general. I thought the scene was unfunny - like the rest of the film. Bring back the good old days of the classic comedies like Golmaal, Chupke Chupke or even Angoor! Now those were great Indian films. Om Shanti Om will be forgotten in ten years time like most the rubbish being produced from North and South India.
