Thanks very much, that's very encouraging. What I was hoping to do was review the majority of them in some sort of family tree type sequence where each character's films gradually leads up to their amalgamation. Actually that plan's just an excuse to watch them all over again!

Hmm, a Whale directed Dracula sequel sounds mouth-watering. I'd never heard that he had been under consideration and he indeed might have produced something surprising - alas, we'll never know.

BTW, I've really been enjoying your Universal write-ups and I hope you'll continue with them.

Good point, Livius - the Frankenstein films and sequels are definitely better, though I do quite like the House films which Drac appeared in too. I never saw any of the Invisible Man sequels but I'm quite a fan of James Whale's film. In fact I believe Whale was originally pencilled in to direct Daughters of Dracula (I saw a pre-production poster with his name written underneath so I'm certain this is true) but they kicked him off the project when they realised his submitted ideas were too close to the edge - would have been interesting to see how Whale would have transformed it from average into something else.

You know, I have all the Universal Legacy sets and reading your last few reviews has made me realise that the Dracula set is the one I've returned to least often. I feel that (with the exception of The Invisible Man)the Dracula sequels were a good deal weaker, or at least a lot less fun than any of the other monster follow-ups. Odd, bearing in mind the enduring popularity of the character.
