[...] Back then, the leak of data seemed far more under control. Though you could learn much from newspapers, and television fed a limited number of updates to viewers, it was less easy to be prepared for the film to come. Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back made for a heady broth of hype. The third part, or Episode VI, was as breathlessly awaited as any movie, a promised culmination of the saga that had led to welters of toys, books and other merchandise. Known until only weeks before its release as Revenge of the Jedi, the final chapter promised much, showing us the images of horrible looking new beasts, like Bib Fortuna, the albino butler to Jabba the Hutt, and the imposing looking Imperial Guards, with their flowing red robes and a single black slit where their eyes should have been.
It was in the original movie, removed for the special edition, and then added *back* in on the recent post-prequel DVD releases
----------

This is like the most incredibly wrong and backwards thing ever-- NO , hon, it was NEVER in the original version. It was in the 1997 special edition and then removed for the 2004 edition, after fans rightfully bitched about the monstrosity. I mean it's not that hard to find out stuff like this instead of spreading complete OPPOSITE misinfo.

Don't listen to this dude.

Fair enough on the scream - removed from the article, and the offending writer has been clipped around the earhole accordingly.

Thanks for the comments, and cheers for reading.

iirc Luke's scream as he falls isn't actually a bit of special edition tinkering. It was in the original movie, removed for the special edition, and then added *back* in on the recent post-prequel DVD releases. I think it makes sense as a sort of primal scream thingy, even though Luke did jump voluntarily.

Great review, though one little nitpick - you mentioned about Luke's scream being out of place in the new version, but I'm sure this was taken out of the 2004 new "new" version - ie the one that was released on dvd

Other than that, everything is spot on

Incidentally, sorry it's taken so long for this one to hit the site. I have to admit the weekend was too lovely for me to do anything but spend it outdoors, and I've been unforgiveably busy since then. I need to get my priorities right, don't I?

Thanks everyone for continuing to read, and to the spammers for making it look like the site gets ten comments per day.
