It came in a period (late '70s/early '80s) when he produced a string of classics and it seemed he could do no wrong. Sadly things went pear shaped after Brewster's Millions and the good films became fewer and fewer (although he still produced some gems, Wild Bill is particularly good in my opinion). I just want to say how much I've enjoyed this series of reviews and look forward to reading your views on the Wyatt Earp films (some real classics there and some of my personal favourite westerns). It's a very different film to Hill's and I find them hard to compare. But Brad Pitt was a much more interesting Jesse James than James Keach and Casey Affleck absolutely nailed Ford. <strong><em>The Long Riders</em></strong> is a movie that I've known and loved for years and years - it's stood the test of time while <strong><em>Assassination</em></strong> is still too new for me to form a definitive opinion.
