[...] There is actually very little information available on this very talented but mostly forgotten actress. If she is known at all, it is as the wife of billionaire nut-case Howard Hughes. Instead of my inserting random biographical snippets between the photos this time, allow me to recommend this very good biography of Jean Peters at Jackal’s Film Corner.
Glad you liked the piece - it's nice to see people still stumbling across it even now. While I'm here, it's worth saying for everyone's benefit that I've recently given the article a little spring clean, and added a few new photos, too.

Thanks for the interesting bio. I just stumbled across your entry when searching for info about Jean Peters. I had never heard of her, but just came across a Photoplay magazine from October 1948 that included a reader poll for actress that was most likely to become a star (I scanned bits of the article here: http://elventryst.blogspot.com/2009/06/looky-what-i-found.html). Coming in at number one, was a Jean Peters-- an actress I had never heard of despite my affinity for old films. Thanks for doing the research and posting this-- I must go watch her films now.

Thanks, I'm glad the piece was of interest. Even though I haven't updated this blog for a while now, it's nice to see that the Jean Peters piece still gets regular hits, thanks chiefly to whichever kind soul linked me to her Wikipedia page. I did get one highly amusing comment (which I declined to publish) a little while ago, from some conspiracy nut, who argued rather passionately (and most illegibly) that Jean did, in fact, give birth to Howard Hughes' secret illegitimate child in the 50s, and that this mystery babyboomer (they were a little vague on where or who this person might be) is only a DNA test away from fame. Gave me a laugh over my morning coffee, anyway.

I'm new to this and having trouble leaving comments. So please excuse me if this gets on here twice, since I'm trying again because the first one didn't seem to "take".

Anyhow, as a new Jean Peters fan, I'm glad to see this page. Nice to know someone is interested in finding and sharing accurate information about her! As you say, accurate info is not easy to find. I hope you'll keep it updated as you find more information!

thank you so much for making this page. some information i can lend you is Jean grew up in (what was then known as) Mapleton, Ohio a suburb of canton, oh and she graduated from East Canton High School. the reason I know this is because that is where I graduated from. I still live in East Canton and I have always been interested in Jean Peters being the only famous person from our very small high school. I always remember looking at her graduating class photo on the walls at the school feeling a sense of pride. I will try to find out more information or facts from her childhood.

Yep, I think 'very good two-parter' sums it up nicely. I enjoyed it maybe more than most because I loved seeing Forbes back as Cain on the one hand, and the second storyline was heavy on Starbuck and Apollo - my favourite characters (especially when taken as a bickering pair). Funny thing about Tricia Helfer in this - I found her far more attractive as Gina than I ever did when she was all dolled up as Baltar's 'Six'.

I agree; I did find some of the narrative a bit too muddled, like one scene was a flashback to a flashback and it just seemed confused. I enjoyed it but I don't think it was all that much better than, say, a very good two-parter.

I really liked Cain, though, more than some of the BSG regulars. She was quite compelling. I like Tricia Helfer a lot too (well, naturally...!) and was pleased to see her turn up as Gina because I was intrigued by her brief appearance before. Would have liked a bit more of Baltar and Roslin but I understand they're not really a part of this story and yes, the ending was a bit cheesy.

Good point you make there - I vaguely remember reading about Cramer and Moore marrying later, now that you mention it. One of those funny cases of changing partners, like Gable/Harlow & Powell/Lombard. I did also find a mention of Stuart Cramer quietly landing in a top job at a Hughes-run company after he divorced Peters, but it wasn't backed up by anything else so I left it out of the piece.
