A courtroom movie based on real events may not sound like the most thrilling of storylines, but when you’ve got a great character like Jackie DiNorscio it barely seems to matter.  I was actually looking forward to seeing this, which is strange considering it’s content is usually a turn-off for me.  I was also facinated to see if Vin Diesel could pull off playing a character who isn’t an all-out action hero (even in The Pacifier he’s still a navy seal!).  And you know what, he really does a good job.

Detailing the true story of the longest mafia trial in US history, Find Me Guilty tells the story of Jackie DiNorscio who chose to defend himself during the entire case.  He’s quite a character, and a self confessed “gagster, not a gangster”.  And while the prosecution lawyers present all the evidence & bring out witness after witness, Jackie is always there keeping the jury laughing with his wisecracks. The prosecution worry that he’s too well liked, and the defense worry that he’s negatively affecting their case.  All Jackie wants is a comfortable night’s sleep.

To be honest, Diesel’s character pretty much makes or breaks this movie since he’s so central to the story.  But that’s not to say there isn’t excellent support from Peter Dinklage & Linus Roache, who both excel in thier roles as lead defense and lead of the prosecution respectively.  It’s a really fun movie, and one which leaves you with a smile on your face.  I highly recommend it, and if you’ve got even the slightest feeling you might enjoy it, then you probably will.

Keep picking scripts like this Mr Diesel, it can only do you good.
