We do return from a brief hiatus, the cause of which was unknown. What I have now though is a large period of free time on my hands to use how I will. Why it’s the summer holiday of course. And during that time I’ll be sure to watch many movies, old and new, following which you’ll get my thoughts.
What’s new? Well first and foremost, I’m trying to update my knowledge of the cinema’s greatest flicks, by watching them. There’s a plentiful that get mentioned time, and time again but I haven’t seen - the likes of Citizen Kane, Seven Samurai, Casablanca to name but a few. I begun this process last month though it’s been slow. So far I’ve sat through ‘One Flew Over A Cuckoo’s Nest’ and I loved it.
I’ll also get around to reviewing the latest offerings at my local cinema and some 2007 works that I’ve missed out on or just haven’t got around to talking about yet (aka Spiderman 3, Hot Fuzz, 300 etc.)
For now though know that I’m back and expect a review or two to follow soon.
Good to see you back Charlie. You can buy a nicely packaged DVD of Citizen Kane for a fiver or less these days - check out play.com for starters. The set contains an overview by Barry Norman that goes through many of the reasons that it’s seen as number one by the critics.
